Seven card stud poker

In Seven Card Stud poker, the players are dealt seven cards - three "down" cards and four "up" cards. After all the betting is complete and the cards are shown, the player with the best five-card hand wins the pot. If two or more players show the same hand, the pot will be equally split between them.

One table can take up to a maximum of eight players. Seven Card Stud Poker is played with the "ante" wherein all players must post ante before the players receive their cards. The ante amount is based on the size of the game.

After the ante is posted, each player receives two face-down cards and one open card. The player with the lowest open card has to initiate the action with a "Bring-in" bet. This bet is typically half of small bet or a full small bet. If two or more players show the same low card, the Bring-in bet will be determined by suit order (clubs, diamonds, hearts and the highest spades). The betting action continues clockwise.

For each betting round, a maximum of four bets including one bet and three raises is allowed. The final (third) raise is called the "Cap". After the betting is capped, no one can make another raise and the player's choice is only to call or to fold.

After the first betting round, each player is dealt another face-up card called the Fourth Street. With this round and after, the highest hand shown begins the action by betting or checking. This round proceeds with the small bet, however if any of the players show a pair, a double bet is allowed.

After a new round of betting another open card is dealt out known as the Fifth Street. The player with the highest card shown starts the action. Starting from this betting round and for the rest of the hand, all bets are increased to the higher bet limit.

Once again, another open card is dealt to all active players and the betting round begins with the player who shows the highest cards.

After another betting round, the seventh and final card is dealt face-down to all active players. The player showing the highest hand acts first again.

When the final betting round is complete and there is more than one player remaining, the player who betted or raised last shows his cards first. If there was no betting action in the last round, the player with the highest exposed hand show the cards first.

The best five-card hand wins the pot. If two or more players show the same poker hand, the pot will be divided equally between them. After the pot is awarded, players will post ante and a new game of Seven Card Stud begins.
