Omaha High-Low

Omaha High LowOmaha High-Low is played exactly like regular Omaha with one big exception. In this form of the game you make two hands in the end, one high and one low. A player that wins both hands takes home (scoops) the entire pot - otherwise it's a split between the best high hand and the best low hand. If two (or more) players have the same high hand or if two (or more) players have the same low hand, that half of the pot will be divided between them.

The high hand is ranked as in normal poker where a royal flush is the best possible. The low hand must consist of unpaired cards with a value of 8 or lower, for example 8-7-5-3-2. Aces count both high and low, which makes 5-4-3-2-A the best possible low hand (8-7-6-5-4 is the worst possible low hand). Straights and flushes do not influence the value of the low hand.

The list below shows some examples of low Omaha hands in rank order.

5-4-3-2-A
6-4-3-2-A
6-5-3-2-A
6-5-4-2-A
7-4-3-2-A
7-5-4-3-2
7-6-3-2-A
7-6-4-3-2
8-4-3-2-A
8-5-4-3-2
8-6-5-4-3
8-6-4-3-2
8-7-5-4-3
8-7-6-2-A
8-7-6-5-4

Sometimes no low hand is possible and when this is the case the high hand wins the entire pot. This happens when the board shows less than three cards with a value of 8 or lower. Remember that in Omaha you always use two of your hole cards and three cards from the board to make your hand.
